About

Hi. I'm a little obsessed with money.

I check my budget every day. Really. And I've learned that's exactly why you shouldn't have to.

I track every dollar with a detailed budgeting app, and I love it. It changed how I think about money. But I've watched a lot of friends try the same thing and give up after a few weeks. It's a lot of work, and life is busy.

On the other end, there are simple plans that say "put this percent here, that percent there, and forget about it." Easy to start. But then the car needs tires, or the holidays show up, and the whole thing falls apart.

The middle ground

Be Boring Rich is the middle ground I wish more people had. You set up a plan once. You put it on autopilot. You plan ahead for the stuff that sneaks up on you. Then you check one number, once a week, and get on with your life.

No stock picking. No jargon. No making you feel bad about buying coffee. Just the boring stuff that actually works, explained like a friend would explain it.

A note on numbers

When I share my own numbers here, they're rounded and tweaked for privacy. The system is exactly what I do.

The fine print

I'm not a licensed financial advisor, and nothing here is personalized advice. It's education: the stuff I wish someone had explained to me sooner. For decisions about your specific situation, talk to a fee-only fiduciary advisor. Read the full disclaimer.
